I used to not be scared to drive in the rain until...

Challenge Day: 11

My husband came up for Presidents day weekend and today I had to drive him to Lexington to fly back to Florida. As I left the airport to head home it began to get dark and rainy. It rained and rained all the way home, but it wasn't just rain, it was windy and the highway was pack with cars and trucks driving far beyond the speed limit in rain. I have never been so scared to drive before, it was the longest most terrible drive home I have ever experienced. I had to asked God to send his angles to protect us on this dark rainy journey home.

The drive normally takes 1hr. and 10 minutes, but it took me almost 2 hours to get home. I finally arrived safely, I thanked God for keeping safe on the road and thought about our pastor sermon this past weekend. At one point he talked about how we take our lives for granted. We go day by day without the knowledge that life is a gift from God. He asked us to consider the fact of driving and how anything can happen to us while we are on the road and when we arrive safely to our destination we should recognize the blessing of being kept safe. Anything can happen to us at any given moment. We need to thank God everyday for the blessed gift of life.

    Scary stuff, Karen! Glad to see you're okay and seemed to avoid danger.

    Driving in severe weather can present a challenge to both inexperienced and experienced drivers alike and your story illustrates just how dangerous it can be. I'd like to offer some tips on how to handle driving in these awful situations.

OUR PUERTO RICO VACATION

La Isla del Encanto… the island of enchantment… that is the popular name given to the island of Puerto Rico. In summer of 2017 we visited Puerto Rico on our family vacation.. we spent 8 days on the island.  This was the first time my boys and I had been to PR. Tony used to spend his summers there, as a kid, with his grandparents. I particularly enjoyed this trip because we had the opportunity to visit several places during our stay.  We flew from Fort Lauderdale, FL to the capital city of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Shortly after arriving we drove to the southwest central part of the island to visit Tony’s grandmother in the town of Adjuntas.  ADJUNTAS Adjuntas is known as the land of the sleeping giant because the mountain range looks like a giant sleeping on his side.  It’s located in a mountainous range so the climate is mild. HOW I KEEP MY HOME ORGANIZED

The new year puts me the mood to rearrange my house. In the time we have lived in our current home, I think I have literally moved the furniture in my living around in every possible way, which means I have most likely exhausted all possible ways to rearrange my furniture, lol. The very moment I begin to put away Christmas decorations my wheels begin turning and I start to wonder, hmm... would my living room look better if I moved the sofa over here… or would this plant would look better over there?     I love to decorate and arrange my house to be more comfortable and function better. This sort of thing makes me very happy!  I love to have a well organized and neat home that suits all of my family’s needs. Being a stay at home mom and housewife, my home is where I spend my entire day, it’s both my place of work and my sanctuary.  So I want it to the best it can be.
