DISNEY DREAMING AGAIN

Image
Guess where I went this past August? Yep... a Disney Cruise!  We got lucky and were able to get on an end of the summer 3 night Bahamian Disney Cruise. I really love and enjoy a cruise vacation! On Friday we drove to Port Canaveral, FL.  Everyone was extremely excited and eagerly awaited to go over the bridge and see the ship waiting at the docks. I've cruised on Royal Caribbean in the past, before children, and I had a great time. But with Disney Cruise Line it's a whole different experience.  From the moment you pull up to the terminal, you feel like you are transported to a different place. I was like a giddy kid waiting to enter the ship and begin my magical vacation. Because this was our second time on the Disney Dream, I wanted to get everything in that I missed. This time, we made it to the sail away deck party, there were characters, performers, and lots of people dancing and celebrating, as we waited for the ship to set sail. We got early dinner seating

HOW I HEALED FROM PLANTAR FASCIITIS

Image
Never in a million years did I ever think I would have suffered from plantar fasciitis. I had never even heard of the term before and I'm going to lie, I had to google the name and have Siri say it to me so I knew how to pronounce it. But that's what happened to me in the fall of 2016. Shortly after running my first 5K, in 2016, I was excited to sign up for more races. So I kept running and tried signing up for more Disney races. The next was in November but I was not able to get in as the race filled up very quickly. Around mid summer I began to experience some pain in me feet after my runs. But I didn't think anything of it, I thought it was just sourness. However, that changed when in August, after running the Castaway 5K, I was unable to walk. I was unable to plant my right foot down without being extreme pain. When I got back home the pain was so bad I couldn't stand or walk. I decided to see a podiatrist to figure out why I was in so much so much

DISNEY CRUISELINE CASTAWAY 5K

After running my first race, Disney Princess 5K, I decided that, as much as I hate running, I wanted to keep it up and do more races.  I was excited to sign up for a couple of upcoming races at Disney, but unfortunately within hours of registration opening, they sold out. I was very disappointed, signing up for races is what would keep me motivated to get out and run. A friend told me about a couple of 5K’s she’s run, the Diva 5K in St. Augustine, FL and the Castaway Cay 5K at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay (Disney Cruise Line). I was able to sign up for the Diva 5K, which I will be running in December. And, I was lucky enough to get on a last minute, end of the summer, 3 night Disney Cruise. I was going to be able to run the Castaway Cay 5K!  And just like that I had two more races this year. This race is great because 1. it’s a Disney race, 2. it’s free and 3. it’s on a beautiful Bahamian island. Signing up for the race is simple, once aboard the

PUMPKIN CRANBERRY BREAD RECIPE

Hello Fall!!! This is one of my favorite months, not only because it's my birthday month but also because it's the official start of Fall! I love Fall! It's my favorite season, though I now live in Florida, and sadly we don't have Fall, I still love what the change of season brings. The changing of the leaves, the chilly air, and anything and everything pumpkin! I love pumpkin, but apparently it's not just me, it's all the rage now. Earlier this week I heard on the radio that September is the official month when pumpkin spiced/pumpkin flavored items come out. Starbucks will officially start serving their pumpkin products on Sunday, September 11. So this month you'll be able to get yourself some pumpkin spiced latte, pumpkin spiced creamer, pumpkin spiced donuts, and pumpkin spiced scented candles. For me, Fall equals baking. Today I'm going to share with you one of my favorite pumpkin recipes, Pumpkin Bread. The original recipe com

HOW I TRAINED FOR A 5K IN 8 WEEKS

I never ran a day in my life before 2016. I hated to run! As my kids would say, "worst thing ever", that's what running was to me. One day my friend, Rebecca, decided she was going to take up running. Her goal was to run the 2016 RunDisney Princess Half Marathon. She thought it would be fun if we would run it together. I assured her that was not going to happen because there was no way physically possible that I could do that. But she was not going to give up, so she asked if I would be willing to give the 5K a try. I agreed... the first thing I needed to know was just how long a 5K was. A fter a moment of feeling perplexed and staring at the screen, 3.1 miles didn't seem that difficult. Still somewhat hesitant, I logged on to RunDisney, but secretly hoped the race was full. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I couldn’t go back on my word… so bravely I signed up for the race. Registration was in July and it was now September and
